MicroMD PM Tips
Increase your Units but not the Fee in the Charges Window
Did you know that if you want or need to increase your units but not the fee when billing that you can easily do this by placing an asterisk (*) in front of the unit field in the Charges window?
Here’s how:
Step 1: Navigate to the Charges window. You will notice below that 1 unit is $10.00
Step 2: Add an asterisk (*) and the number 5 in the unit field.
Step 3: Hit “Enter” button. The fee will stay $10.00 but you will notice that the units are 5.
Set MicroMD PM to Automatically Verify Insurance Eligibility
Did you know that practices can now set MicroMD PM to automatically verify insurance eligibility of patients days before their scheduled appointments?
Here’s how:
Step 1: In the Setup menu click on Practice Preferences then click on the Additional Modules tab.
Step 2: Highlight the MicroMD ECM entry.
Step 3: Click on the Setup Icon on the left task pane. Under the Eligibility Request drop down choose the number of days in advance you would like to check eligibility before a scheduled appointment.

Options for Encounter Location
Did you know that now in MicroMD EMR we have added options for Encounter Location? Now you can choose either your Current Sessions location or the visits Appointment Location.
Here’s how:
Step 1: Go to Tools > User Preferences
Step 2: Under the User Preferences window select Encounter. Under the Encounter Location drop down choose the location of your choice and click Close.
Now when your creating a new Encounter it will pull the location you choose in your User Preferences settings automatically.
New options for Assessment Descriptions
Did you know that there is now an option to change from Snomed Description to the ICD Description for Assessments in MicroMD EMR?
Here’s how:
Step 1: While in EMR Manager, go to System Settings > Practice tab. Click Edit
Step 2: Under the Practice Settings window in the Assessment Description drop down choose either SNOMED or ICD. Click OK.
