EMR Integration & Interoperability Solutions

Integration & Interoperability

PM & EMR Integration with MicroMD

MicroMD EMR’s open-architecture design allows integration and interoperability with a wide variety of third-party systems. Through the HL7 standard, XML specification, and Internet protocols, MicroMD EMR exchanges bi-directional information, giving providers vital access to the data they need at the point of care.

Practice Management

MicroMD EMR will import demographic data including patient and insurance information, as well as appointments and referrals. Once the patient is entered into MicroMD PM, all the relevant data will be immediately available in the EMR. Following an encounter with the patient, MicroMD EMR will send the billing information back to MicroMD PM for processing.

Device Connectivity

MicroMD EMR is a robust system that connects with numerous medical devices. This enables providers to improve efficiency and reduce errors, resulting in improved patient care. To learn more, click here.

Lab and Hospital Connectivity

MicroMD EMR can send electronic lab orders and receive the electronic results, alerting the provider of the available information for review. MicroMD EMR interfaces with a variety of national and regional clinical laboratory service providers, and is constantly adding additional laboratory systems. Current partners include: LabCorp, Quest, Ameripath, Bio-Reference, Fletcher-Flora (LabPak, FFlex), Hex, Interpath, LabDAQ, Pathnet, Southern Diagnostics, Spectrum and Sunrise Labs.

e-Prescribing

MicroMD EMR interfaces with the SureScripts® e-Prescribing network. SureScripts maintains a network of more than 60,000 pharmacies across the U.S. Prescribers can send electronic prescriptions to any of the listed pharmacies, and will receive refill requests from the pharmacies. By exchanging prescription information with pharmacies electronically, e-Prescribing reduces the risk of medication errors associated with poor handwriting, illegible faxes and accidental key strokes.

Transcription

MicroMD EMR interfaces with the CliniScribe transcription service. Providers dictate notes and have them sent for transcription with or without voice-to-text manipulation. The documents return electronically from the transcription service and can be imported automatically or manually into the MicroMD system. An NLP module allows conversion of text into discrete data.

Speech Recognition

MicroMD EMR integrates with Dragon Medical’s speech recognition software. The system utilizes the Microsoft voice-to-text engine and uses the SAPI interface.

Immunizations/Vaccines

MicroMD EMR can interface with vaccine registries. Current interfaces include Arizona State Immunization Information System (A.S.I.I.S.) and the Georgia Immunization Registry (GRITS) Vaccine registry. Additional state registries are added as needed by customers.

Fax

MicroMD EMR has an integrated fax engine, which allows faxing of prescriptions and medical referrals directly from MicroMD EMR to any fax destination.

HL7/XML

MicroMD EMR supports HL7, the leading standard in medical integration. Additionally, the flexible interface engine can be customized to read any agreed upon xml or flat file format.

Microsoft Office

MicroMD EMR can import Microsoft Word documents into the text encounter. The system also has the ability to report, print and export documents in many formats, such as DOC, XLS, PDF, WordPad, etc.

CPT® and ICD Codes

MicroMD EMR utilizes full CPT and ICD coding; provides standardization of billing nomenclature; and incorporates the INGENIX Knowledge Base for ICD-CPT mapping.

First DataBank® (FDB)

MicroMD EMR utilizes drug databases from FDB for prescription writing, even when the physician writes prescription during the encounter. MicroMD EMR also checks conflicts and interactions, including: drug-to-allergy, drug-to-drug, drug-to-pregnancy, drug-to-pediatric, drug-to-geriatric, drug-to-lactation, drug-to-disease, drug-to-side effect and drug-to-duplicate therapy.

HCPCS

MicroMD EMR utilizes HCPCS, an extension of CPT codes for all the billing codes not covered by CPT. This includes items such as ambulance services and durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS) when used outside a physician’s office.

Remote Scanning

MicroMD EMR uses virtual channels as a bi-directional, error-free connection for exchange of image files between a Microsoft Server and a Windows Remote Client.

SNOMED CT® (Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine-Clinical Terms)

MicroMD EMR utilizes SNOMED for diagnosis, symptoms and signs in the SOAP encounter notes, which include review of symptoms, subjective, objective and assessment information.

Security

MicroMD EMR recognizes that sensitive medical information needs to be treated with extra care. It utilizes the latest Web and networking security standards such as SSL and VPN.
