Aiding Those in Need in Our Community
As a small local business housed in Boardman, Ohio, MicroMD prides itself on its willingness and ability to give back to the local community. Kathy Hissam, Senior Human Resources Administrator, is looking forward to a new year filled with opportunities to aid those in need in the Mahoning valley. Here is a look back at what our community outreach entailed in 2017…
August:
MicroMD partnered with the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley and passed out 75 book bags filled with school supplies to support their ‘Success After 6’ program at the Youngstown Community School Back to School/Wellness event. The book bags contained folders, pencils, pens, erasers, markers, paper, scissors, glue, compasses, protractors and crayons.
November:
In November 2017, Team Schein Members in Boardman, Ohio, at MicroMD, didn’t forget the little things that are needed daily.
Team members held a Hygiene Supply Drive for the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley. A donation bin was set up in the lobby area of the building where team members donated soap, lotion, shampoo, dish detergent, clothing detergent, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. A representative from the United Way picked up the supplies which were later made available to local school children and their families.
The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley is a vital resource that has helped to improve the quality of life for thousands of individuals in their community. Their mission is to be the driving force behind sustained improvement in the lives of all citizens through initiatives that promote education, income, health, and community support services.
December:
MicroMD got into the gift giving spirit during the holiday season. Team members sponsored seven children from local schools, making their Christmas wishes come true. Each child had a tag wish list that included toys, clothes and shoes. Members selected the children’s tags then bought and wrapped their gifts. A representative from The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley delivered the children’s gifts during their Christmas party.
