Many years ago – circa 1982 – I recall a college professor editing one of my composition papers. The topic was the changing trends in communication. I remember he commented that in the future, the media will shift to increasingly shorter, fragmented communications. He cited that technology, and an increased pace of life will shorten the average attention span for information consumption to two to five minutes. He was not my favorite professor (I do not even remember his name), but I clearly remember his vision in 1982 well before smart phones were even invented!
Fast forward. We are busier than ever. Watching a one-to-two-minute video has replaced reading instructions. When phone calls to increasingly busy people no longer offered instantaneous connections, we shifted to email. Now emails are a nightmare to keep up with, even when they come to our phones. We do not know if they were delivered or sent to cyber oblivion. Useful links can be blocked to safeguard networks. Not all emails are easy to manage on a small screen and the sheer volume can be overwhelming. Text is now considered the easiest, fastest, and preferred communication tool. Statistically, text messages are read within three minutes.
At MicroMD, we recognize the need to break down information into short communications – and the convenience and power of texting. We offer two-way texting so you can better connect with your patients. Now we want to expand texting so we can better connect with our providers through a new instant access, convenient video training tool that we are calling Two-Minute Text Tips.
What are Two-Minute Text Tips?
Simply put, these are quick hit training tips designed specifically for busy providers to learn a little bit more about MicroMD. The idea is to publish 1-2 text messages a month with a two-minute video link sent via text message, so you can view the tip, learn something quickly, and essentially give time back to your patients.
